This workshop is suitable for anyone who likes to get their hands dirty, including beginners who want to play with mud, and artists eager to further their practice.

PART 1: Pigment Making (09:00 - 12:00)

Learn how to turn rock, clay, ash, dust and dirt into pigment. Weather permitting, we will go out to gather our raw material. Then we will extract the pigment. You will be able to take your very own handmade pigment home.

PART 2: Paint Making (13:00 - 16:00)

Come grind pigment powder into oil paint. You will see just how versatile one batch of pigment can be. In oil painting all colours behave differently. The aim is that you will get to know your paint's idiosyncrasies.

The total amount of R 1000 pp for the two-part workshop is payable up front. Materials and refreshments are included. Seats are limited.
